Timothy Schwarz, violin

Timothy Schwarz began his musical training at age four, and made his solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age nine.  In 1986, Mr. Schwarz won the Starling International Scholarship Competition, which enabled him to study with the late Dorothy Delay at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.  He has won several competitions including Maryland Council of the Arts Classical Music Competition and the WGUC Radio Competition.  As a winner of the United States Information Agency’s 1995 Artistic Ambassador Audition, he gave a critically acclaimed concert tour of the Middle East, performing thirty All-American solo recitals in eleven different countries.  Mr. Schwarz has recorded a solo compact disc, An American Affair, on the EMI and Allegro labels in 1997, and more recently Timothy Schwarz Live, on the Centaur Label. His performances have frequently been broadcast on international radio and television.  Mr. Schwarz currently teaches violin and viola at Lehigh University, and is pursuing a Doctorate in Violin Performance at Temple University, where he was awarded a University Fellowship.  Throughout his career, Timothy has been a devoted chamber musician. He served as first violinist of the Chancellor String Quartet from 1998-2005, at which time he joined the Serafin String Quartet.
